THE publishes the results of University Rankings 2020

3 October 2019

The latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings has been published in September 2019, including almost 1,400 universities from 92 countries. THE ranking is based on 13 performance indicators, measuring an institution’s performance across teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

ENQA appreciates yet another attempt at interpreting the notion of excellence in higher education. However, while the notion of “excellence” gains importance and is being used frequently by an increasing number of countries, as well as other stakeholders in order to qualify the value of higher education institutions and programmes, the rankings only partly explain the quality of universities and their activities, and should therefore be cautiously interpreted.
