The Council of Europe and UNESCO have recently published a book that provides an overview of the implementation of the Lisbon Recognition Convention. Published in the Council of Europe Higher Education Series, the book presents the key findings and conclusions of a survey on the recognition of qualifications in higher education and lays out the recommendations made by the Lisbon Recognition Convention Committee.
Some of the recommendations concern the provision of information – to ensure that appropriate, easy-to-read and well-structured information is available in widely-spoken languages – and the development of national information centres in each country. Others are aimed at improving the fair recognition of qualifications and the quality of recognition statements through a common understanding of requirements and the use of defined criteria for substantial differences.
